Steam Queen Review

The release day is getting so close! Five days... I had the pleasure of reading an ARC of Steam Queen by Jack Hessey. Please read on for the review!

I’d like to begin by saying, I’d never read a Steam Punk book before Steam Queen by Jack Hessey. As a matter of fact, I’m ashamed to admit until I was researching book genres to figure out where my Contemporary Romance fit, I’d never even heard of it.

So, for those who don’t know, Steam Punk is a genre of book which takes place at a time when the railroads were first emerging and the whole world was powered by steam.

Steam Queen defied all my expectations. From the fist page I was captivated with Erica’s struggle to be herself in a world that continually rejected her. She reminded me of Lisbeth Salandar from the Millennium Series, damaged, socially awkward, and seemingly cold hearted. I was enthralled to find out what made her that way. I wanted to cheer every time her humanity showed through. Truly gave her a depth, you might not at first expect.

The plot also moved nicely. I never thought I’d be in a position of rooting for a band of mercenaries, but Jack weaved the story so well, I couldn’t help but be captivated. After reading Steam Queen I’ll be on the lookout for more Steam Punk books.

That aside, I think that a multiple-contributor blog would give you support and provide some other perspectives. You could combine this with your ideas on coaching/ghostwriting and work with 'intern' contributors to hone their skills, see their work supplying your site, and give them the tools they need to take your philosophies and understanding out on their own tangents. Having said all of that, I wonder if Ande's idea isn't the best (regardless of what format you choose to go with for the blog). If it was still public with no comments, but you cross-posted entries in a private forum, you could allow people to respond and discuss in a controlled/private environment, but still keep the blog itself public.
